still waiting

waited for almost one and a half years...
waited for more or less one month...
have waited yet again for 30 days...

Who knows how many days more I have to wait! Not fun at all!
Why do I always end up waiting?!

the real state of the nation

Just came across a better version of the state of the nation from a friend's post in FB. And I totally agree...

Theres The Rub
State of the mind

By Conrado de Quiros
Philippine Daily Inquirer

I seriously propose that the state of the Nation Address be delivered not in July, as tradition dictates, but on April 1, as sanity dictates. April 1 is April Fool’s Day, when the claims of Filipino presidents, including those who were not elected so, about what they’ve done for the country are best said. Who knows? Maybe the day devoted to foolishness may persuade people to be wise.

Who knows too? Maybe the day devoted to deception might have persuaded President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Monday to tell the truth. And deliver this speech:

GOOD AFTERNOON, sycophants and booty-lickers. I do not see any ladies here and the only gentleman I know is at home packing his bags in hopes he might still be invited to where I am going. I will not bore you, even if that gives me great pleasure, with a long speech full of statistics which you would be fools to believe anyway. I’ll go straight to the point.
Juan Ponce Enrile is right: I am the best president this country has ever had. Of course, he said that too about Marcos and Erap, but he is right this time. No Filipino president has done more than me. No Filipino president will do more than me.

For once and for all, I have disabused this country of its illusions. Chief of them is that we are a democracy. There has been no more persistent, and pernicious, illusion than that. The Filipinos who extol its virtues are hypocrites. They do not believe in it any more than I do. They do not care for it any more than I do.

battle of katipunan

All the odds were against the Fighting Maroons:
... 3-0 vs. 0-3
... league leader vs. cellar dweller
... defending champs vs. 2nd from last
... even in the crowd, Ateneans outnumbered the Iskolars

Practically everything and everyone were against us. Even me. I was confident that were on our way to another 0-14 record. Not really a pleasant thing to expect but the way the Maroons were playing the past 3 games, it's as if history repeats itself.

Then luck knocked on UP MBT's dugouts. Like David vs. Goliath, the UP Fighting Maroons beat the Ateneo Blue Eagles 68-58. This win practically gave us renewed hope. Hey, maybe the boys can win after all. Just when everyone lost hope, they showed us that they're still here. Still fighting. Personally, I was proud (again) of our MBT. Sana lang wag maging 1-13 to. Itodo na natin sa 11-3!

Just like what the article from the inboundpass website said, KATIPUNAN HAS INDEED A NEW KING! Well at least for the first round. =)

By the way, I like the new black jersey. Para sakin maangas! Gotta get one of this...

Federer - greatest?

So Federer won French in the absence of Rafa (having been beaten in the QF by Soderling) and finally winning the elusive trophy that completed all four slams. But this wasn't a testament of how great he is. What cemented his claim was winning the 2009 Wimbledon Open giving him 15 majors in his career (still in the absence of Rafa due to injury). This made me think bitterly, had Rafa been his opponent in the Finals, would he have won French? Would he have surpassed Sampras' record of 14 Grand Slams by winning Wimbledon? I don't think so, with Nadal leading their head-to-head matches 13-7.

But then again, Nadal wasn't there. Federer won French. Then he reclaimed Wimbledon the following month. Maybe he is the greatest man to play tennis after all. I give it up to Andy for taking the match to a 5-setter just like last year with Nadal. Guess it really wasn't for him.

“Sorry, Pete,” Roddick said. “I tried to hold him off.”

This was his message for Pete when he was handed the microphone during the awards ceremony. If it was Andy who had held Federer off from getting his 15th grand slam, I'm pretty sure he'll be getting that in one of the slams that follow. Roger is only 27, he'll surely be counting more slams in his career.

Hats off to you Roger! And for Rafa, c'mon, break Federer's record! haha

Roger Federer's Grand Slam wins:
2003 - Wimbledon
2004 - Australian, Wimbledon, US
2005 - Wimbledon, US
2006 - Australian, Wimbledon, US
2007 - Australian, Wimbledon, US
2008 - US
2009 - French, Wimbledon

PS: Sana may magregalo sakin nung jacket ni Federer during the awards ceremony! hehe
